Middle School iPads

Teaching and Learning with Technology – Middle School iPad Program 2012-2013

Beginning the 2012-2013 school year, students at the three middle schools will be receiving iPads as their mobile computing device. The iPad will come in a protective case.

During the summer of 2012, fifteen middle school teachers, representing all subject areas and all three middle schools, came together to determine which apps would be needed to support teaching and learning in the classroom. These are a copy of the apps that will be a part of student iPads at the middle school level:

Keynote – presentation app
Pages – word processing app
iMovie – video editing app
Garageband – audio editing app
Evernote – note taking app (this is how all students will take notes)
iBrainstorm – graphic organizer app
Educreations Interactive Whiteboard – whiteboard app
Earth Observer – science app
Mathemagics, Mental Math Tricks – math app
Sketch Explorer – math app
Scientific Graphing Calculator – math and science app
Book Creator – humanities app for digital storytelling
Index Card – app for creating note cards
Penultimate – allows students to write with finger or stylus in Evernote

Apple ID's
Students will be required to set up an Apple ID to manage the apps on the iPads. This Apple ID must be created with the student's district email address. The student will never be required to purchase any apps, and no credit card should be associated with your child's district Apple ID. If you have any questions on how to do this, please see your child's principal for help.
