About Boulevard Elementary School

BOULEVARD’S BEST!

Like most schools in America, every morning Boulevard students begin the day with the Pledge of Allegiance. After which, students also recite the Boulevard Pledge. The Boulevard Pledge says it all about our students, staff and teachers and our priorities: It states:

Boulevard is a place where learning is our TOP priority. We make good choices and work REALLY hard. We are respectful, helpful, honest, and kind. And most importantly we are always proud to do our BOULEVARD BEST!

The Boulevard Pledge is one of our many daily reminders to students, staff, and teachers that learning and student success are the first order of business at Boulevard. Here at Boulevard our mission is to nurture as well as educate ALL students. The success of our students happens because of planning, collaboration and hard work by a dedicated staff and focused student population.

The Boulevard teachers toil daily to ensure student success. As teachers continue to collaborate, they also go way above “the call of duty.” Our teachers often come up with programs to address the needs or our school community. For example, our kindergarten teachers, Belinda Farrow and Julie Soroka, help support our kindergarten students and parents with a program called The Breakfast Club.

The Breakfast Club is a monthly before school activity for parents and students that focus on rising students’ academic skill levels. Parents are invited to attend monthly meetings to learn the curriculum focus for the month in math and reading. This program permits parents to begin working with their children at home, while helping students to become more successful at school.

Reading teacher, Jackie Kerzner, wrote a Reaching Heights grant that support all Boulevard students to set and work toward their individual goals. It is called, “I Wear My Success on My Sleeve” project. The objective of the program is for all students to reach their individual goals in the areas of math, reading and behavior. Students then will earn a “T” shirt to wear which says, “I achieved my goals… and success looks good on me!”

Another Boulevard initiative is lead by teachers, Margie Dunlevy, Sandy Axner, Karin Shumway and Pat Wilson. Together they facilitate a weekly First in Math program. This is a McDonald’s Restaurant sponsored program in which students compete for points with other students across the state. First in Math program teams meet every Tuesday after school for this web-based program.

These are just a few of the programs that Boulevard teachers and staff help to develop and facilitate for students to become academically successful. The Boulevard school community is diligent in being their “BOULEVARD BEST” daily!

Some one once said, “Children make up 20% of the population but 100% of our future.” At Boulevard we are working for our future.
