CH-UH Stands Out in Hanover Research National Press Release

January 31, 2012
Cleveland Heights, OH

Cleveland Heights-University Heights City School District is featured by Hanover Research in a national press release for being an example of how districts across the county are getting creative in finding new ways to reach students and motivate them to learn.

CH-UH implemented a new program called Pathways of Choice. The program allows parents and students to choose one of three pathways that emphasize learning from a particular perspective. The three pathways are: (i) Society: Learning from the perspective of people interacting with others; (ii) Discovery: Learning from the perspective of people interacting with the physical world; (iii) Creativity: Learning from the perspective of expressing and celebrating the human spirit.

The news release underscores the fact that CH-UH Schools are about inspiring students to learn, not teaching to the test. The District is using research to drive new teaching methods that attempt to reach all students.  Reports from Hanover research has helped inform the design, development, and implementation of the CH-UH Pathways of Choice transformation.

“We’re thrilled to discover the added learning opportunities for us that are unveiled naturally as parents and students think about what their best possible learning environment would look like,” said Joe Micheller. “Research shows that when parents and students have a vested interest in their school community, they do better socially, emotionally, and academically,” Micheller added.

“It’s really impressive what they’re trying to do for their students and what they’ve accomplished so far; this is a big undertaking” said Cam Wall, Managing Content Director at Hanover Research. Hanover Research collaborates with over 100 local school districts, regional education agencies, and state departments of education across the U.S.
