MSAN Students Visit Kent State

February 6, 2012
Cleveland Heights, OH

On Thursday, January 26, the Cleveland Heights-University Heights students of the Minority Student Achievement Network (MSAN) made their annual visit to Kent State University to participate in the university’s Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration.  In the true spirit of the achievement network, CH-UH students were joined by the MSAN students of Shaker Middle School.  Totaling 142 students from the two districts, students were greeted by university officials and formally acknowledged in the university ballroom at the keynote presentation.

MSAN students from Monticello and Roxboro middle schools were photographed with the MLK Celebration keynote speaker, Dr. Marc Lamont Hill. Dr. Hill is a cultural anthropologist, activist, author, and professor at Columbia University.  Dr. Hill was uniquely able to capture the interest of MSAN students, collegiate students, and community members with his powerful address regarding the legacy of Dr. King.

In a show of appreciation for MSAN participation and involvement, Kent State University displayed the photo of Dr. Hill and MSAN students on the Kent State University web page for visitors to view.
