CH-UH Welcomes New Principals

The Cleveland Heights-University Heights City School District announces that Dr. Michele Evans will lead Gearity Professional Development School as principal, and Andrett Calloway will lead Fairfax Elementary School as principal. Both will begin their new roles on August 6.
CH-UH encourages parents and members of the community to meet Calloway and Evans at a “Meet the Principals” night, which will be held during August. CH-UH will announce a date soon.
“We are thrilled Andrett and Michele will lead Fairfax and Gearity,” Superintendent Doug Heuer said. “They are true professionals and each brings a wealth of knowledge, education, and experience to their respective position. We’re confident they will continue to ensure that our schools remain places where all students have opportunities to learn skills for the 21st Century.”
Evans and Calloway both completed intensive interviews with CH-UH placement consultants, the Educational Services Department, the district leadership, parents, teachers, and members of the community. "We thank all parents, students, staff, and community members for participating in the "Ideal Principal" surveys, your comments were very helpful," Dr. Nylajean McDaniel, Director of Human Resources stated.
Prior to accepting her position as Fairfax Elementary School Principal, Calloway served as Heights High’s Program Specialist and Night School Principal. She also worked as a kindergarten through 8th grade Assistant Principal at Cleveland Metropolitan School District for four years. Calloway began her career as a 6th grade math and language arts teacher at CH-UH. She holds a Master’s degree and Administration license from John Carroll University and an Education Specialist degree from Cleveland State University. Calloway is pursuing her Doctorate of Education in Instructional Leadership with an emphasis in Organizational Leadership.
Evans comes to CH-UH from Malone University, where she serves as an adjunct professor, teaching school finance and research courses in the university’s Principals’ Licensure program. Prior to her work at Malone University, Evans led Canton City Schools as Superintendent. She also held a position as Director of Testing, Evaluation, and Research within that district. Evans served in the Ohio Department of Education and as Hilliard City Schools Elementary Principal in Hilliard, Ohio, and kindergarten through 8th grade Principal at Columbus Public Schools in Columbus, Ohio. Evans holds her Ph.D in Educational Policy and Leadership from The Ohio State University.
