Congratulations to Our Teacher Leaders and Master Teachers

September 6, 2012
Cleveland Heights, OH

Part D of our Race to the Top grant focuses on great teachers and great leaders. To that end, partnering with John Carroll University’s College of Arts and Sciences Graduate Division and Department of Education and Allied Studies, Cleveland Heights developed a year-long program called the Teacher Leader Endorsement Program. This endorsement allows these candidates to hold the highest license in the state—the Lead License.

We are also very proud of our Master Teachers, who have earned the state designation for excellence in their field. The Cleveland Heights-University Heights City School District initiated a local program to allow teachers to earn the State of Ohio’s Master Teacher designation.

A master teacher demonstrates excellence inside and outside of the classroom through consistent leadership and focused collaboration to maximize student learning.  A master teacher strives for distinguished teaching and continued professional growth as specified by the Standards for Ohio Teachers.

The Master Teacher designation entitles them to receive a senior professional educator license within the next 5 years upon their next license renewal.
