The Heights High Barbershoppers, a part of the Heights High Vocal Music Department, have been chosen as one of only three high school groups to perform at this year’s Ohio Music Education Association Convention in Cincinnati.

The group, which has performed widely in the community and on The Fox 8 Morning Show, will travel to Cincinnati to perform on January 28 for the state’s music educators and participate in a workshop, How to Start a Barbershop Group in Your School, presented by Mr. Craig McGaughey, Heights High Vocal Music Director. The program presented by the group includes: It’s a Good Day, arr. Val Hicks; Please Mr. Columbus, arr. Jack Baird; Mona Lisa, arr. Greg Volk; De Animals a Comin’, arr Marshall Bartholomew; Eine Kleine NOT Musik, Jim Henry; Blue Velvet, arr. Curt Kimball; Get Happy, arr. Aaron Dale; Java Jive, arr. Bluegrass Student Union; and It’s a Grand Night for Singing, arr. Pete Rupay.
The Heights High Barbershoppers were chosen from a number of groups from across the state. It is the first time in 30 years that a vocal music group from Heights High has been awarded this honor.
