Students Perform Three One Act Plays

Cast for One Act Festival

 

The cast and directors for the One Act Play Festival: Lily Kerr-Jung, Hannah Woodside, Rohan Bruce, David Jurns (teacher), Jack Johnson, Jesse Hodges, Derek Black and Ryan Penson, (L-R).


Jan. 18, 2017 -- The Heights High Drama Department will produce three one act plays on January 19 & 20, 7 p.m. in the auditorium. Students will perform in all three plays and direct two of the pieces.

The plays are:
  • Words, Words, Words by David Ives, directed by Mary-Jane Reinhardt, cast: Rohan Bruce, Anyssa Hanna and Jesse Hodges
  • Sure Thing, by David Ives, directed by Hannah Woodside, cast: Jack Johnson and Hannah Woodside 
  • Trifles by Susan Glaspell, directed by Drama Teacher David Jurns, cast: Derek Black, Jack Johnson, Lilly Kerr-Jung, Ahmad Manigault and Ryan Penson. 
Words, Words, Words and Sure Thing are very funny comedies,” said Mr. Jurns. “And for fans of literature, Words, Words, Words includes humorous references to famous works of literature.”

Trifles is the most challenging of the three,” continued Mr. Jurns. “It is drama murder mystery with intense questions about social power and respect.”

He students in the production are in the Drama class, an elective in the English Department and in the Drama Club.

The next production is Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing in late March. Auditions for the spring play are the week of January 23. For more information, contact David Jurns, [email protected].
