All About Tiger Nation Homecoming

Sept. 23, 2016 -- Heights High Spirit Week is September 26-30, culminating with the Tiger Nation Homecoming Parade and Game on September 30 and the Homecoming Dance for students on October 1.

Student Council, working with adviser Kennethian Brown, has planned fun activities for the week leading up to Homecoming and also the activities and decorations for the student dance.

Student Spirit Week Activities
Monday, September 26, 3:15-5:15 p.m., Clash of Classes Olympic Field Day: Each grade level will challenge the grade levels in games of Tug-of-War, Dodgeball, Bean Bag Toss and Hula Hoop. The winning class will win a prize for the entire class!

Following the Field Day activities, there will be a BBQ with Principal Ross at the grill, serving hot dogs for student attendees. Students who wish to participate must to sign up for the free event in their grade level office. See the flyer here.

Tuesday, September 27, Pediatric Cancer Awareness Day, Coin Drive (lunch time) and Scavenger Hunt (after school). Wear yellow to raise awareness for this important cause. Funds raised will benefit the University Hospitals Pediatric Cancer Center.

Wednesday, September 28,  Twin Day: Dress in your favorite outfit with your favorite twin - be creative! Winning twin set receives tickets to the Homecoming Dance and a dance food ticket or a ticket to the Homecoming Game.

Thursday, September 29, Superhero Day: Come to school with your favorite superhero shirt. Students are invited to view the movie Captain America – Civil War in the auditorium, 3:30-5:30 p.m. Popcorn will be served!

Friday, September 30, Tiger Nation Day: Wear your black and gold! There will be an in-school parade at the end of the day.

Homecoming Parade & Game – Friday, September 30
The CH-UH 2016 Tiger Nation Homecoming Parade begins 5:30 p.m. at the Delisle Center, corner of Taylor and Superior, 14780 Superior Rd. and ends at the Tiger Nation Stadium, corner of Cedar and Lee Roads.

Student groups from schools and the community are invited to march, build floats, play instruments, carry banners and cheer in support of Tiger Nation! All parade participants and spectators are encouraged to wear Black and Gold and for the parade and game.

Tiger Nation looks forward to welcoming our alumni to the parade and game. Be a Part of the Tiger Nation Excitement!

To participate in the parade, groups and organizations must RSVP to Heights High Athletic Department Assistant Martha Pugsley or 216 320-3014.

Following the parade, students, staff, alumni and community members are invited to the Homecoming Football game at 7 p.m. with the fabulous Heights High Marching Band. The team will play Maple Heights.

The half time activities will include the crowning of the Homecoming Court.

Tickets to the game are available at the Lee Road entrance Home Ticket Office window, tickets are $6 for adults, $4 for students and senior citizens. The Visitor Ticket Office is at the Cedar Road entrance.

The parking lot at the school is closed due to construction activity. Washington Boulevard will be closed to parking for the parade route. There is limited parking on surrounding side streets. The parking lot behind the Cedar Lee Theater has metered parking and there is FREE parking at parking lot located at the corner of Cedar and Edgewood.

The Homecoming Student Dance – October 1
The Student Council is planning an exciting evening of music, games and dinner at the school on Saturday, October 1, 7-11 p.m. The event’s theme is Under the Grecian Moon.

Tickets go on sale Monday, September 26, 3:15 – 4:30 p.m. in the cafeteria. Tickets are $25/person. Dinner tickets are $5. Seniors may bring a guest, completed guest form should be presented when purchasing tickets. 

Ticket sales end on Thursday, September 29 or when the tickets sell out.

The event will include two rooms of fun with different activities in each area. One of the parties will feature club mix dance music and a video screen. The other room will include a karaoke contest, games and a dinner catered by Zagara’s.

The Student Council officers who are planning Spirit Week and the Homecoming Dance are: President: Tyler Lawson, Vice President, Na’Taeshia Hall, Treasurer: Taylor Peterkin, Public Relations/ Communications Director: Jada Miller-Johnson, Historian/Photographer: Tylar McDowell and Community Service Manager: Alyssa Moore.

Dance Guidelines:
Dress for the event is party attire, no jeans or sneakers. Tickets will not be sold at the door. Heights students must show school ID to be admitted. Guests will only be admitted with the student they are attending with and they must have either a government or school issued ID. There will be no admission after 8:30 p.m. Students who leave the building before the dance is over will not be readmitted.
