Sept. 27, 2016 -- Carl M. Jenks is the man behind the camera at many Heights High sporting and music events. The 1963 Heights alum has been the official athletic and vocal music department photographer for more than five years.

“I like to capture the wonder,” he said. “Photography captures the moment, it can be the action and emotion in athletics or theater or just about anything.”

Dwight Hollins, CH-UH Supervisor of Athletics, appreciates Mr. Jenks' commitment to the Heights community. “Carl’s work is so impressive,” he said. “Our families love his photos. Our teams enjoy the books and everyone likes seeing his photos on the website and other District publications.”

Lisa Manzari is the parent of a soccer player and a regular visitor to Carl’s website. "He captures the incredible moments. I love seeing the photos of my son but also of the kids he has grown up with. Carl is such an asset to Heights High."

While Mr. Jenks is hired to provide the digital photography to the District and a few hard copy products, he also donates 40 large foam core posters of his athletic photography for the hallway leading to the gymnasiums at Heights High.

“Carl’s posters make the gym hallway area exciting and showcases our students,” continued Mr. Hollins. “We really appreciate his generosity.”

Photography is a second career for Mr. Jenks. He retired from the Jones Day law firm as a tax attorney and now devotes much of his time to his photography business.
