Revised Intradistrict Open Enrollment Information

Revised Intradistrict Open Enrollment Information

The CH-UH School District is accepting applications now through April 24 for Intradistrict Open Enrollment for the 2015-16 school year. The revised Open Enrollment procedure includes a different timeline for applications and decisions.

Beginning February 23, 2015, the District implemented a revised Intradistrict Open Enrollment procedure.  Information and applications can be found at the Parents & Students tab of the District website and under Registration on the Department of Student Services webpage.

One significant change with the revised procedure is the timeline for applications and decisions.

The District will only accept applications for Intradistrict Open Enrollment for the 2015-2016 school year from February 23, 2015 through April 24, 2015. Parents/guardians will be notified of the Intradistrict Open Enrollment decision via mail by May 8, 2015.

Families planning to enroll their children in Kindergarten during the 2015-2016 year and are seeking a transfer through the Intradistrict Open Enrollment process must submit an application during this application window.

Waiting lists are not maintained and Intradistrict Open Enrollment decisions are not subject to appeal. Applications will be processed in the following manner:

Elementary Schools – Beginning with the 2015 – 2016 school year, the District will only grant Intradistrict Open Enrollment requests that meet the following criteria:

  • The student will enroll in Kindergarten through 5th grade for the 2015 – 2016 school year and

  • The projected program enrollment and current space utilization of the requested school building allows for the consideration of Intradistrict Open Enrollment applications and

  • The class size is 20 or below for grades K – 3 and 21 for grades 4-5, thus allowing room for new enrollments and Intradistrict Open Enrollment applications.

Middle Schools – Beginning with the 2015 – 2016 school year, the District will only process Intradistrict Open Enrollment requests that meet the following criteria.

  • The student will enroll in Grades 6 through 8 for the 2015 – 2016 school year and

  • The projected program enrollment and current space utilization of the requested school building allows for the consideration of Intradistrict Open Enrollment applications

Once the District has determined that it can process Intradistrict Open Enrollment requests at the elementary and/or middle school level, then applications will be received and filled with preference given to those students having siblings in the building.

If the number of students having siblings is lower than total number of available spots, then the District will approve the applications of each of the applicants with a sibling.  Once sibling priority has been given, all remaining applications will be processed and spots filled using a randomized selection process.
