Gateway Building: Design Rendering

The latest plans and elevations for the Gateway Building that will serve as an entryway into the athletic field and stadium at the high school were approved by the Cleveland Heights Planning Commission on Wednesday, February 11 at City Hall.

The Gateway will include restrooms, concession stands and ticket booths and it is included in the high school project budget. The District would like to have these facilities in place while the high school is under construction since the high school won’t be accessible. It makes sense to put up the Gateway now rather than spend precious dollars on temporary restrooms, concession stands and ticket booths. It will be designed in a way that will allow for future expansion. Any expansions would be paid for with monies raised through fundraising efforts.

These spaces were always a part of the overall High School building plan. "Building a modest Gateway to include those items is an affordable solution for the interim to ensure we have the necessary facilities for our students, community and visiting teams and families to use when attending athletic events during the construction of the High School over the next two years," stated Angee Shaker, Director of Communications. "This will save the District from having to spend money on temporary restrooms, concession stands and ticket booths."

The District is in the process of developing a capital campaign to secure funding for physical enhancements to the facilities that are not included in the high school project budget. The major areas of focus will include; the arts, athletics, applied sciences and community spaces.  A professional fundraiser has recently been secured by the District to help guide the District through a four phase comprehensive fundraising process.
