Black History Month Speech Series

Election season should be a time when we pay close attention to rhetoric. Celebrate Black History Month by going back to speeches by black activists who made a difference. Listen to original speeches and reenactments, build vocab by learning the meaning of words, and discuss tools used by speakers. The program takes place Tuesdays, February 2, 9, 16, & 23, 4 p.m. at the Noble Neighborhood branch, 2800 Noble Road.

African-American Read-In

Celebrate the voices of African-American authors! Bring a short selection from an African-American writer to share, or be part of the audience and listen to members of the community read their favorites. Registration begins January 28 for readers. The program takes place Sunday, February 28, 2 p.m. at the Lee Road branch, 2345 Lee Road.
