Teens Can Put Their Poetry to Music at Lake Erie Ink

Feb. 17, 2016 -- Lake Erie Ink has several events this month where participants can combine music with the written word.

The Out of the Blues teen open mic night is on Friday, February 19 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Heights Music Shop. Teens in grades 6-12 are invited to bring their work or write one on site. Pizza will be provided.

On Saturday, February 20 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., all ages are invited for the Weekend Ink “Once in a Blues Moon” workshop. Write lyrics with local artists, composers and performers. Musicians Harry Bacharach and Afi Scruggs will be on hand for the fun. Weekend Ink is supported in part through funding from Cuyahoga Arts & Culture. The cost is $5 per person.

The Collage Music and Poetry teen writers’ workshop on February 17 and February 24 will welcome the Cavani String Quartet. The COLLAGE program is supported in part by a public grant from Cuyahoga Arts & Culture. The workshops are from 7 to 8:30 p.m. For information, call 216-320-4757.

Lake Erie Ink is a nonprofit organization that offers creative expression opportunities to youth of all ages. They are located in the former Coventry School building at 2843 Washington Boulevard.
