Students Hear "Hidden Figures" Author Speak

Feb. 13, 2017 -- Roxboro Middle School's Ladies of Leadership attended Hidden Figures author Margot Lee Shetterly's keynote speech at the Martin Luther King Jr. Convocation at Case Western Reserve University on February 3.

Shetterly's book Hidden Figures: The American Dream and the Untold Story of the Black Women Mathematicians Who Helped Win the Space Race details how the women helped the nation reach some of its greatest aeronautical achievements. The film Hidden Figures was released nationwide in December 2016.

The group also met Dr. Julian Earls, the retired Director of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's Glenn Research Center at Lewis Field in Cleveland, where he served from 2003 to 2005.
