Ron Register to be Honored as OSBA Master Board Member

Ron Register

Feb. 16, 2017 – Cleveland Heights-University Heights Board of Education President Ron Register will be presented with two awards from the Ohio School Boards Association (OSBA) this spring.

The OSBA will present Register with the Association’s Award of Achievement and with the Master Board Member Award.

The Award of Achievement is given to school board members in recognition of their commitment to training and leadership activities on their boards of education and region as well as statewide OSBA activities.

The Master Board Member Award is given to school board members who dedicate themselves to improving their boardmanship skills and knowledge. All Master Board Members must first earn OSBA’s Award of Achievement to be considered for the additional recognition. The Master Board Member honor is only awarded once to an individual and is recognized for life.

Before being considered for the honor, an Ohio public school board member must complete numerous professional development workshops and activities. Leadership on school boards or educational service center governing boards, active involvement in student leadership and other statewide OSBA activities are but a few of the requirements considered in bestowing the Master Board Member designation.

Register is the first-ever CH-UH board member to be named a Master Board Member since the award began in 1998.

Last year, Register was named one of the NEOSBA Outstanding School Board Member Award recipients and was nominated for the OSBA Outstanding All-Ohio Board Member Recognition. Register serves on the OSBA’s Executive Committee and Legislative Platform Committee

Register will be honored with the awards at the OSBA spring conference on March 22 in North Olmsted.
