June 21, 2018 -- Heights High English teacher Dr. Donna Feldman recently helped plan, host and emcee a conference for more than 100 aspiring and published mystery writers.

The North East Ohio Sisters-in-Crime (NEOinC), in conjunction with the national Sisters-in-Crime and the Cuyahoga County Public Library, sponsored Killer Heat: A Mystery Writer's Getaway Weekend on June 9 and 10.

The keynote speaker of the two-day conference was national bestselling and award-winning author Laura DeSilverio (seated in photo). DeSilverio is a retired Air Force intelligence officer and the author of 21 mystery, suspense and young adult sci-fi novels.

Panels and workshops hosted by mystery authors included independent publishing, an editor's perspective, increasing conflict in stories, and more. The event was held at the South Euclid-Lyndhurst branch of the Cuyahoga County Public Library.
