Aug. 7, 2018 -- Each year, 1 in every 3 adults over the age of 65 are treated for fall-related injuries. The risk of falling increases with each decade of life. In light of these statistics, MetroHealth Cleveland Heights is offering a free Matter of Balance workshop on August 14-September 6, every Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to noon.
Matter of Balance is an evidence-based falls prevention program. The structured group intervention emphasizes practical strategies to reduce fear of falling and increase activity levels. Participants learn to view falls and fear of falling as controllable, set realistic goals to increase activity, change their environment to reduce fall risk factors, and exercise to increase strength and balance.
The workshops will take place in the second floor conference room, 10 Severance Circle.
