CH-UH Honors Outstanding Educators at Staff Awards Banquet

2017-2018 CH-UH Teachers of the YearMay 31, 2018 -- The CH-UH City School District held its inaugural Staff Awards Banquet on Wednesday to honor a number of outstanding educators including Teachers of the Year, Helping Hands of the Year, District Administrator of the Year, and Tiger Nation Award winners. Heights High School math teacher Joyce Bukovac was honored as District Teacher of the Year. Bukovac was chosen from a group of four finalists, which also included Oxford Title I Lead Patrick Carpenter, Gearity First Grade Teacher Sherri Malek, and Monticello at Heights Middle School Social Studies Teacher Matthew Minnillo.

Heights High School administrative assistant Angie Cooper was honored as District Helping Hand of the Year. Cooper was chosen from a group of four finalists, which also included Gearity Kindergarten Aide Brenda Cross, Human Resources Specialist Carla Morris, and Boulevard Administrative Assistant Karen Spinks.

Heights High School assistant principal Jane Simeri was honored as District Administrator of the Year. Simeri was chosen from a group of four finalists, which also included Delisle Options Center Site Supervisor Claude Holland, Fairfax Elementary Principal Quatrice James, and Roxboro Elementary Principal Shelley Pulling.


CH-UH also handed out Tiger Nation Awards to honor staff members who presented at state or national conferences during the 2017-2018 school year. The Tiger Nation Award winners included:
