Students Inducted into National Honor Society
April 24, 2018 -- On April 19, the Heights High National Honor Society (NHS) inducted 50 sophomores and juniors into the organization.
The ceremony began with four officers describing the four NHS pillars: Sophie Gilson, President spoke about the pillar of Leadership, Alexandra Boyd, Secretary, spoke about Character, Hannah Gilson, Public Relations, spoke about Service and Rylee Woldman, Treasurer spoke about Scholarship.
Each of the inductees were later called to the stage to receive their certificate and join the officers in reciting the NHS pledge. The inductees join the 86 current NHS members.
The Keynote Speaker at the Induction Ceremony was Richard Stewart, President of Digizoom Media, a full-service video production company and a Heights High alumnus.
The group’s ongoing service project is the NHS Tutoring Lab that is staffed by NHS volunteers. It is open to all Heights High students after school, four days a week in the media center.
Students with a 3.5 GPA or above are invited to apply for membership, demonstrating achievement in the area of scholarship. The application asks for evidence of student activities in the three other pillars character, service and leadership.
Guidance Counselor Haethem Rasul is the NHS advisor.
