May 1, 2017 -- On the Heights Libraries calendar this month: a free comic book day, spring talent show and Q&A with a local filmmaker.

For Kids

Free Comic Book Day

Saturday, May 6, 2 p.m. at the Lee Road branch, 2345 Lee Road

This year we will celebrate our 6th Annual Free Comic Book Day with a variety of games, activities, and crafts. Come in super hero gear, costume or t-shirt to be entered into a special raffle. And of course, be sure to get your FREE COMICS! For ages 3-12.

Make and Take Art: Van Gogh Sunflowers

Tuesday, May 16, 4 p.m. at the Coventry branch, 1925 Coventry Road

Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) was one of the most famous artists to ever live. Join us as we prepare for summer by learning more about his Sunflower series and break out the yellow and orange paint. Grades K-5.

LAF: Annual Spring Talent Show

Wednesday, May 24, 3:30 p.m. at the Lee Road branch, 2345 Lee Road

Love to dance, sing, or play a musical instrument? Join us for our annual spring talent show and show off your skills! Everyone will receive a small prize for participating. Registration is recommended as registered participants will be allowed to perform first.

Mike Berry: Speech and Q&A

Wednesday, May 10, 4 p.m. at the Noble Neighborhood Branch, 2800 Noble Road

Mike has been both a rapper and author in Cleveland. He is a passionate filmmaker, a mental health advocate, and a powerful motivational speaker. He will speak for the teens and hold a Q & A session afterward.

May Momentum

Wednesdays in May, 4 p.m. at the Noble Neighborhood Branch, 2800 Noble Road

Spend a little time thinking about your near and far future before the school year ends. Take a personality test for some thoughtful guidance and learn some tips for finding a summer job in the neighborhood.

Afterschool Zone

Mon- Fri, 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. at the Noble Neighborhood Branch, 2800 Noble Road

Teens can drop by every weekday afternoon from 3:30-5:30 to hang out with your friends, play games and have fun! Grades 6-12.

Teen Afternoon Spot

Mon-Fri, 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the Lee Road branch, 2345 Lee Road

Play video games, participate in tabletop gaming, watch anime, and more! Every weekday from 3-6 p.m. the teen room is reserved for teens in middle school and high school, so stop on in and see what we have going on.
