Student Video Documents DC Field Trip

May 19, 2017 -- Seniors Isaiah Kempson and Myles Mells created a video to document an April field trip to the Holocaust Museum and the Smithsonian African American Museum of History and Culture in Washington DC.

Both students are in the Career and Technical Education Digital Video Production program and in Donna Feldman’s English class that participated in the field trip. Cynthia Booker is the Digital Video Production teacher.

Dr. Feldman and Mark Sack were two of the adults who organized the trip. They asked Isaiah and Myles to create a video to share the field trip experience with a wider audience.

“It was really great to film historical monuments and artifacts from both the African History Museum and Holocaust Museum,” said Isaiah.

Myles felt that is was important to have a video that would showcase both museums for students who could not join the trip. “We learned so many new things,” he said. “I hope other students will watch the video and learn about both of the museums.”

After graduation, Isaiah plans to attend Tri-C in the fall to study Video Game Design. Myles plans to study Communications at Wilmington College in Wilmington, Ohio .

Students involved in the Minority Student Action Network (MSAN) and with Mr. Sack's Lessons of the Holocaust class also went on the two-day trip.
