CH-UH Accepting Applications For Family Engagement Task Force

Family Engagement Task Force Accepting Applications

Sept. 18, 2018 -- The Cleveland Heights-University Heights City School District is committed to developing a comprehensive plan to address family engagement in our school community. The District is developing a new Family Engagement Task Force and is accepting applications to join this group.

Our goal is for the task force to include staff, family, community based organizations and community members who represent the diversity of CH-UH Schools and who can provide valuable insight, expertise and perspective on ways to improve family engagement in the district. Members should bring an open mind, a passion for student learning, and a willingness to engage in inquiry, meaningful dialogue, and collaboration throughout the task force process.

The group will meet monthly beginning in October until presenting a plan to the Board of Education in the spring of 2019. Meeting dates and times are still to be determined. Completed applications should be emailed to Caroline Jewell-Rogers at [email protected]. UPDATE: The application deadline is Monday, Oct. 1.

MISSION: The mission of the Cleveland Heights-University Heights City School District’s Family Engagement Task Force is to recommend a multi-year action plan for district-wide family engagement.

CREATION: This task force shall be established pursuant to Board Policy 9140 - Citizens’ Advisory Committees. As per the policy, the committee will have oversight from the Superintendent, or her designee.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The task force will be asked to review and update family engagement policies and programs. Members will also provide analysis of broad family engagement data and provide recommendations on engagement strategies and additional supports for CH-UH staff and other stakeholders. District staff will share all relevant items with the committee for research and discussion.

DURATION: The task force will meet once a month starting in October 2018 and will submit a report to the Board of Education in the spring of 2019. All task force meetings will be open to the public and the Superintendent, or her designee, will lead the meetings and establish all agendas.

We will ask that you help share the family engagement plan with your community, colleagues and friends. We recognize that the turnaround time to complete the task force’s work is tight. However, we believe that the time frame will not compromise the quality of the work. We appreciate your commitment to a long-term plan that honors and respects families as partners in education. Our collective plan will reflect our commitment to preparing our students for a future that is bright and beneficial to our city and state.

MEMBERSHIP: The Superintendent, or her designee, will solicit applications for membership on the committee.

CH-UH City School District and the Board of Education believe family engagement and two-way communication are essential to improving district decisions and outcomes for students. CH-UH District staff members will be appointed to the committee under the direction of the Superintendent.  A representative from the Board of Education will be included as an ex-officio member on the committee.
