Piada Fundraiser February 20 to Support Guatemalan Trip

Piada fundraiser

Feb. 15, 2019 -- The Heights High Spanish Language and Culture classes will host a February 20 fundraising event at Piada restaurant 13947 Cedar Road, the north side of Cedar Center. Show this flyer on your phone or a hard copy or mention Heights High Spanish class when ordering and 20% of proceeds will support the Spanish students’ trip to Guatemala.

The Spanish teachers are planning a June 3-9 trip to Antigua, Guatemala.

Antigua is the former Spanish colonial capital city and features beautifully restored architecture.
Students will have daily Spanish lessons and will take excursions to the surrounding volcanoes, lakes and ancient ruins.

The group will stay in a large house where they will be served local food from the house kitchen.

“International travel is an important part of language and culture studies,” said Spanish teacher Abiola Adeyemon. “It is the best way for students to reinforce their language skills, by being immersed in the culture. This helps them understand another culture and to reflect on their own culture and themselves. It’s the best way to build citizens of the world.”

Heights High students who are interested in the trip should contact one of the Spanish teachers:
Ms. Adeyemon, Ms. Fatica or Ms. Pavel.

The group is seeking donors/sponsors for the trip. For information, contact Ms. Adeyemon.
