CH-UH Announces Finalists for Teacher, Helping Hand, and Administrator of the Year Awards

March 18, 2019 -- The finalists have been selected for each of the CH-UH City School District’s year-end awards, including Teacher of the Year, Helping Hand of the Year and Administrator of the Year.

The finalists for Teacher of the Year and Helping Hand of the Year were determined through district-wide voting. The candidates were the Teachers and Helping Hands of the Year at each of the district’s schools. The finalists for Administrator of the Year were determined by the Superintendent’s Cabinet. 
 
Teacher of the Year Finalists
District Teacher of the Year Finalists:
  • Olivia Fatica, Spanish Teacher - Heights High School
  • Heather Higham, School Counselor - Gearity Elementary
  • Joi Mahoney-Curry, Title 1 Lead Teacher - Boulevard Elementary
  • Felicita Sanchez, Science Teacher - Monticello at Heights Middle School
  • Amy Statler, Technology/PLTW Teacher - Roxboro at Heights Middle School

Helping Hand of the Year Finalists 

District Helping Hand of the Year Finalists:

  • Angela Cerne, Special Education Aide - Monticello at Heights Middle School
  • Vivian Gatta, Communications Staff Assistant - Board of Education
  • Deborah McCollum, Administrative Assistant - Roxboro at Heights Middle School
  • LaJuana Smith, CTE Administrative Assistant - Heights High School
  • Linda Steffancin, Administrative Assistant - Roxboro Elementary

Administrator of the Year Finalists 

District Administrator of the Year Finalists:

  • Rachael Coleman, Heights Middle School Campus Principal
  • Joe D’Amato, Athletic Director
  • Erin Hanna, Coordinator of Student Services
  • Sue Pardee, Supervisor of Federal Programs and Grants

The honorees will be recognized at the second annual CH-UH Staff Awards Banquet on Thursday, May 30. The overall District Teacher of the Year, Helping Hand of the Year, and Administrator of the Year will be announced at the awards banquet. CH-UH will also honor retirees and hand out Tiger Nation Awards to staff who presented at state or national conferences this past school year.
