Heights Middle School AVID Students To Host College Fair
Dec. 13, 2017 -- Heights Middle School 8th grade AVID students are busy researching colleges and universities for their upcoming College Fair on Wednesday, December 20, from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. in the Wiley gymnasium.
This is a great opportunity for the AVID students to apply what they have learned about the many aspects of the college admissions process, from GPA and SAT requirements to what clubs and activities colleges prefer.
Students will be available to present their college and answer any questions visitors may have.
Many CH-UH elementary schools are bringing their classes to visit the event as a way to further grow the District’s mission of preparing all students for college and career readiness.
AVID elective teachers, Ms. Calloway and Ms. Radke, have invited members of the CH-UH Board of Education and are extending the invite to any parents interested in “visiting” the many colleges represented at the event. Visitors are free to drop in and attend the event at any point in the day.
AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination and is an elective course at Heights Middle School and Heights High School. The AVID program focuses on establishing a strong foundation for success in college and beyond, offering support for students to strengthen their organizational and academic skills.
