Heights Alumni Jason and Travis Kelce Named to NFL All-Pro Team

Jan. 11, 2018 -- Heights High School alumni and brothers Jason and Travis Kelce continue to be two of the top players in the NFL. Both former Tigers were recently named to the NFL’s prestigious All-Pro Team.

The elder brother Jason (‘06), an offensive lineman for the Philadelphia Eagles, was named first team, while his younger brother Travis (‘08), a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, earned second team honors.

Jason is in his seventh season in the NFL and is the starting center for the Eagles, who earned the top seed in the NFC Playoffs. Philadelphia hosts the Atlanta Falcons in the Divisional Round this weekend.

Travis is in his fourth season in the NFL. The Chiefs won the AFC West Division but were upset in the Wild Card Round of the Playoffs last weekend in Kansas City. Travis finished the 2017 season with 83 catches for 1,038 yards and eight touchdowns.

The Kelce brothers faced off against each other on Sept. 17 when the Eagles visited the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium. Travis and the Chiefs came away with a 27-20 win over Jason and the Eagles.

Another Heights High alum, Shelton Gibson ('13), is finishing up his rookie season in the NFL where he is a teammate of Jason Kelce on the Eagles. The wide receiver Gibson, who was drafted in the fifth round of the 2017 Draft out of West Virginia, played in five games and finished the year with two catches for 11 yards.

Bryce Jones (‘11) also completed his rookie season in the NFL. The cornerback Jones, who was undrafted out of Akron, spent the entire season on the Houston Texans’ practice squad and was recently signed to a Futures/Reserves Contract for the 2018 season by the Texans.

On the collegiate level, cornerback Marcus McShepherd (‘13) finished his redshirt senior season at Northwestern. McShepherd battled an injury to play in eight games and finish with 16 tackles and one interception. He started for the Wildcats in their Music City Bowl win over Kentucky.

Jaylen Harris (‘17) recently completed his freshman season at Ohio State. Harris saw action in three games and made two catches for 27 yards on the year. Next fall, Harris will be joined by current Heights High senior Tyreke Smith who recently committed to the Buckeyes.
