Student Leaders Engage, Serve, and Lead

Leading Ladies and Free Speech club at the Heights Library Teen Council

Feb. 8, 2018 -- Members of the Heights High Leading Ladies and the Free Speech Club serve on the Cleveland Heights Library Teen Council.

At the January 22 meeting, the students planned a January 28 Bake Sale to raise funds for the Hurricane Relief in Puerto Rico.
 
They also plan to participate on February 5 in the Cleveland Clinic Children's Hospital Fleece Blankets for Teens activity.
 
This activity is organized by the Cleveland Heights Library with Cleveland Clinic for teens to make fleece blankets for other teens in need and will take place at the Cleveland Heights Library.

Heights High Leading Ladies and Free Speech club a tthe Cleveland City Club speaker seriesIn the fall, the groups attended a Cleveland City Club Luncheon to hear Floyd Abrams address the First Amendment of the US Constitution (freedom of speech).
 
They also met Ohio State Board of Education Meryl Johnson and discussed civic issues, pictured at left.

The Leading Ladies club encourages fellowship through community service, field trips and discussions with leading female professionals in Greater Cleveland. The club seeks to build student’s interpersonal, social, organizational and communication skills.

The Free Speech Club provides civic engagement field trips and other events and programs in Cleveland Hts and Greater Cleveland.

The clubs meet every other Monday in room 239.
