Board of Education Elects New Leadership For 2017
Ron RegisterJan. 4, 2017 -- The Cleveland Heights-University Heights City School District Board of Education selected its new leaders for 2017 during its annual organizational meeting on Tuesday in University Heights.

Longtime Board member Ron Register was unanimously voted as President, a role he has previously served in years past. Mr. Register held the role of Vice President in 2016.

Outgoing Board President Kal Zucker was unanimously voted as Vice President for 2017. 

Board member Jim Posch was appointed as Treasurer Pro Tem, which means he will serve in the absence of Scott Gainer, the District's Chief Financial Officer.

Eric Silverman and Beverly Wright both return to round out the five-person Board of Education for 2017.

The Board also held its regular meeting for the month of January on Tuesday. The 2016-2017 Options Global Ambassadors were recognized at the meeting. Coordinator of Alternative Programming Dr. Brian Williams spoke about the Ambassadors' upcoming trip to South Africa in March.

Options Program seniors Tyron Bryant, De'Shawn Gibson and Roberto Osorio are serving as the Ambassadors this year. Roberto spoke at the meeting on behalf of his classmates.

The Board of Education also approved the Roxboro and Monticello Middle Schools Schematic Design from architectural firm Moody Nolan.
