Jan. 19, 2016 –
The Cleveland Heights-University Heights Board of Education held its monthly work session meeting on Tuesday in University Heights. The focus of this month’s work session was the middle school renovation project, and it was an opportunity for the firms involved to present to the Board.

Presenters included key members of the architectural and CMR (Construction Manager at Risk) teams for the middle school renovation project:

High School Renovation Project
Fred Rodgers with the Ozanne Construction Company presented data on diversity and EDGE requirements met thus far within the scope of the high school renovation project. Currently, the data is tracking 30.6 percent participation in the project among FBE (Female Business Enterprise), MBE (Minority Business Enterprise), DBE (Disadvantaged Business Enterprise) or EDGE (State of Ohio program, Encouraging Diversity and Growth Enterprises) companies.

Board Committees
Board President Kal Zucker suggested committee assignments for 2016. Final decisions will be made at the Feb. 2 regular meeting.

Facilities Accountability Committee
The Board will make a decision on the candidates to fill the two vacancies on the Facilities Accountability Committee (FAC) at the Feb. 2 meeting. The application deadline was Jan. 14, and the Board members are in the process of reviewing candidates’ applications.

State of the Schools Address
CH-UH Superintendent Dr. Talisa Dixon will give her State of the Schools Address on Tuesday, Jan. 26, at 6:00 p.m. at the Heights High Wiley campus cafeteria. The community is encouraged to arrive early to enjoy refreshments courtesy of the PTA Council.

Upcoming Board Meetings
The CH-UH Board of Education will meet again on Tuesday, Feb. 2, at 7 p.m. for its monthly regular meeting. Additionally, the CH-UH Board will hold joint meetings with the cities of Cleveland Heights and University Heights next week.

The meeting with Cleveland Heights is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 25, at 6:30 p.m. at the CH-UH Board of Education offices in University Heights.

The meeting with University Heights is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 28, at 7:00 p.m. at the CH-UH Board of Education offices.
