CH-UH Deploying New Chromebooks In Elementary Schools
Google ChromebookFeb. 9, 2016 (Cleveland.com) -- The Cleveland Heights-University Heights School District has purchased 475 Google Chromebook computers to be used, beginning late this month, by all elementary school students in the third, fourth and fifth grades.

Google Chromebook computers are small, fast laptop computers that turn on in seconds and offer thousands of apps. By using the Chromebooks, students can work on assignments at any time and any place where they have connection to the internet.

"They can work on a home computer, through an aunt's computer, or their mother's smart phone," said Christina Bauer, the district's program specialist for technology. "It's a 24/7 classroom. When the school door is locked, we won't be shutting down the classroom."

The work the students do, from writing reports to creating videos, and other assignments, will be stored in Google Cloud. Google Cloud allows for worldwide storage and retrieval of any amount of data at any time.

If students need to stop what they are working on, they can easily pick up where they left off. Meanwhile, Bauer said, teachers can conveniently check on the progress of their students' work, or issue assignments, at any time.
