April 10, 2017 -- Roxboro and Monticello middle schools claimed multiple victories at the regional Power of the Pen tournament on April 1, including an unprecedented award.
Roxboro's seventh grade team placed fourth out of nearly 40 teams, and seventh grader Eryn Lawson took home a second place individual trophy. Roxboro eighth grader Troye Gross placed ninth out of more than 100 students.
Monticello eighth grader Maple Buescher and seventh grader Cecilia Adams both received awards for winning the "Best of the Best" at the district competition held in December. Cecilia won two out of three rounds, and Maple won all three. No student has ever won "Best of the Best" in all three rounds at any level of the competition!
The regional tournament took place at Padua Franciscan High School in Parma.
