A Message from Superintendent Dr. Talisa Dixon

March 14, 2017

Dear CH-UH Families,

We understand that many of you were surprised by our decision to open our schools this morning following the overnight snowfall here in Greater Cleveland. Please know that the safety of students and staff is our number one priority and the driving force behind our decisions.

At 4:30 a.m., District leadership began conversations with local law enforcement, road crews and nearby school districts to determine if the road conditions were safe for student transport. When the time came shortly thereafter to deploy our buses for pick-up, the roads in our district had been adequately cleared for travel. For our students who walk to school, we found no hazards had been created by the weather.

There were many parents who did not feel comfortable sending their children to school this morning, and for that reason, all absences and tardies will be excused today, March 14. Additionally, all after-school activities, including after-care, will be canceled for today.

Of course, we will continue to monitor the weather conditions as the day continues. More on the CH-UH winter weather protocol can be found here.

Thank you,

Dr. Talisa L. Dixon
Superintendent, Cleveland Heights-University Heights City School District
