Women’s Basketball Coach is LEL Coach of Year
March 12, 2017 -- Heights High Girls Basketball Coach Karen Battle was named the Lake Erie League Coach of the Year. “I am honored to receive this award from my peers,” said Coach Battle. “I appreciate that they see the growth in our program and the hard work and dedication of our girls.”
The team finished second in the league this year with a 13-9 season.
Five of her starters were seniors but Coach Battle is looking forward to next year with a strong group of younger players who want to improve their game and build the team.
“I enjoy helping the girls learn life lessons through the game of basketball,” she said. “So many of the skills and attitudes that we learn on the court transfer to school and life.”
The Heights Girls Basketball Summer Camp has helped build the program. Current players are the camp counselors and help Coach Battle guide younger players. The half day camp will take place in June, the exact dates and location will be announced soon.
