Students Win Art Awards

Feb. 21, 2017 -- Seven student artists won awards in two art competitions. Four students won awards in the Cleveland Clinic eXpressions Art Competition: Jacob Budnar and Gilda Weinstock won a Blue Ribbon and Mhwada Abdulrazzaq and Robyn Lynch won a White Ribbon.

The Cleveland Clinic eXpression program invites high school students to use art to explore science and medicine. The artists translate research conducted by Cleveland Clinic high school interns into artistic interpretations of the science.

The eXpressions Exhibition is February 9 - March 17 at the Global Center for Health Innovation, 1 St Clair Ave NE, Cleveland, OH 44114

Four students also participated in the Beachwood Arts Council’s 22nd Annual Juried Regional High School Student Art Show: Alicia Lassiter, Nataya Truitt and Sarai Truitt and Gilda Weinstock.

Students from 24 area high schools participated and will be judged by Grafton J. Nunes, President and Chief Executive Officer, Cleveland Institute of Art; Kevin O’Donnell, Owner, Lee Hayden Gallery, Beachwood Place; and Sandra Noble, Adjunct Instructor, Case Western Reserve University.

An Art Show Opening Reception and Awards Program on Sunday, February 12, 2 – 4:30 p.m. at the Beachwood Community Center, 25225 Fairmount Boulevard will honor the artists.

Eight top awards will be announced during the reception, and winners will receive cash prizes. In addition, all exhibiting students in attendance will be acknowledged for their participation.

The exhibition will be on view February 12 – March 5 at the Beachwood Community Center. Gallery Hours: Monday – Friday, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Sunday, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.

The Heights High art teachers are: Nancy Eisenberg, Hillary Nemecek and Claire Raack and Laura Skehan.
