On the Same Page: The Refugee Experience Kick Off Community Soccer Game and Potluck Picnic
Saturday, September 8, 3:30 - 6 p.m.
Denison Park, 1015 Quarry Dr in Cleveland Heights
Join Heights Libraries and local organizations as we gather in Denison Park for an afternoon of pick-up soccer and community engagement. Browse the resource tables and participate in fun sideline activities. Bring a picnic snack or dish to share if you can. Don’t miss this opportunity to share a meal and conversation with your neighbors, old and new! Inspired by the book Outcasts United by Warren St. John. All ages welcome.

Peter Potamus Birthday Party

Come celebrate Peter Potamus, our mascot, for his 50th birthday! We'll have fun crafts, hippo-themed activities, and of course, a birthday cake.

Library Afterschool Fun: Readers' Tea Party
Monday, September 24, 4 p.m. at the University Heights branch, 13866 Cedar Road
Have you just finished a book and need to tell EVERYONE about it!? Or maybe you just can't find the right book to read next. Pull up a chair at our tea party. We'll be talking books in style with tea and crumpets. Join us won't you? BYO tea cup! For readers ages 8-12.

Library Afterschool Fun: Afterschool Coding Club
Friday, September 28, 3:30 p.m. at the Noble Branch, 2800 Noble Road

For Teens

All American Boys Writing Contest
Local teens are invited to submit a poem or short essay about this topic, and / or inspired by the book All American Boys. Entries must be received by Friday, Sept. 21 at 5 p.m.
Judges will select one winner, who will receive two front-row seats to the authors’ event on Tuesday, Oct 2, and will have their piece printed in the event program. All American Boys Writing Contest Workshop

Want to enter the All American Boys writing contest, but not sure where to start? Have an idea but could use some help refining it? Lake Erie Ink will be in the Teen Room to provide a workshop for teens interested in submitting a piece for consideration. Make your work the best it can be!
