CH-UH Cuts Ribbon to Officially Open the New Heights High

Aug. 18, 2017 -- Students, staff, parents, and local officials were on hand to witness the official opening of the newly-renovated Heights High School in Cleveland Heights on Friday morning.

The Cleveland Heights-University Heights City School District held the ribbon cutting ceremony at its annual Staff Convocation Day. The first day for students is Monday, August 21.

Senior student leaders Peyton Marshall and David Matia cut the ribbon while their classmates, teachers, administrators, school board members and city officials from Cleveland Heights and University Heights looked on.

Board of Education member and Heights High alum Eric Silverman spoke at the ceremony in addition to University Heights mayor Susan Infeld and Cleveland Heights mayor Cheryl Stephens.

The building at Cedar and Lee originally opened in 1926 and included several additions throughout the past century. Over the past two years, the building received a massive renovation. The original 1926 building remained, while the additions were removed and new spaces such as a natatorium, cafeteria, and media center were added in their place.

What resulted is a stunning transformation that gives the CH-UH community a beautiful blend of historical architecture with 21st century learning space.

Heights High will host its Grand Opening community open house event on Sunday, Sept. 10, from 1-4 p.m.
