First Impressions From Students
MSAN students in front of Heights High SchoolAug. 12, 2017 -- The Heights High Marching Band Camp started practice this week and the drum line musicians were some of the first students to see the new building.

On the second day of band camp they talked about their first impressions of the building.

The group was preparing to begin practice in one of the band rooms when they took a few minutes to talk.

“The sound acoustics are great in here,” said Malik Winfield, lead percussionist in the band.

Other students pointed out the acoustic tiles on the ceiling and walls. They all agreed that the sound quality in the room was superb.

They also appreciated the water fountains that accommodate a refillable water bottle, the air hand dryers and motion activated faucets in the restrooms.

The Minority Student Achievement Network were also some of the first students in the building; they held their first meeting of the year in the media center. Co-President and senior Josephine Johnson said “It is such a privilege and honor to be here. Our class started here as freshmen and now we will be the first class to graduate.”

Jalen Chesney, a senior and MSAN Co-President was also impressed with the new building. “I can’t believe we’re here,” he said. “I can’t wait to see the rest of the building, especially the pool and gym, and all of it.”

All incoming Heights High students are invited into the building on August 15 & 16 for orientation and schedule pick up. See the Back to School page for more details.
