CH-UH Welcomes New Administrators and Principals

Sept. 6, 2017 -- The CH-UH School District is proud to welcome a number of new administrators to the district this year, including some principals taking on new roles in 2017-2018.

Lindsay Baar
Lindsay Baar
Coordinator of Student Services

Lindsay Baar is the new Coordinator of Student Services, working with all high school students, speech language pathologists, APE teachers and occupational therapists and physical therapists. Lindsay most recently served for five years as the principal of Gaitway High School, a school for children with social and academic needs serviced through the Geauga County ESC and Fieldstone Farm. Prior to that, she spent seven years at Gaitway as an intervention specialist, and several years as an intervention specialist with the STARS Autism Program. Lindsay holds a master of curriculum and instruction degree from Cleveland State University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Findlay, along with several certifications. A native of Chardon, Lindsay has two children, Payton (8) and Grady (4).

Frank Cikach

Director of Information Technology

Frank Cikach is the new Director of Information Technology, serving CH-UH through IT consultant Epiphany Management. Frank has spent 35 years in education, including positions as a science teacher and vocational IT director. He spent 15 years as the Technology Director for Mayfield City Schools before joining Epiphany Management as Executive Vice President, a role in which he has spent 10 years. Frank has consulted in more than 100 school districts in Ohio, Michigan and Florida. He holds a bachelor’s of science degree from Marietta College and attended Cleveland State for masters work in environmental science.

Joe D'Amato

Athletic Director

Joe D’Amato is the District’s new Athletic Director, overseeing 25 varsity programs and two middle school athletic departments while emphasizing the experience and development of student-athletes. Joe spent the last two years as the associate athletic director at Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School and as the athletic director of Gesu School in University Heights. Joe previously served as the Director of Marketing and Communications at Pro Sports Experience and has coached high school basketball and football for six years. He holds a bachelor’s degree in sports management from Bowling Green State University. A resident of University Heights, Joe and his wife Kellie have a daughter, Delaney, and welcomed a son to the family last month.

Dr. Michael Jenkins

Principal, Boulevard Elementary School

Dr. Michael Jenkins is in his ninth year in the CH-UH District and his first as the principal at Boulevard Elementary School. He previously served as the principal at Roxboro Elementary since 2013. Prior to that position, Michael was a fifth grade teacher at Coventry Elementary School from 2002-2006. He has also served as a fifth grade teacher at Shadowbriar Intermediate School in Houston, Texas, and a seventh grade gifted teacher at Emerson Middle School in Lakewood, Ohio. In between his time at Coventry and Roxboro, Michael was the RTI coordinator and principal in Port Clinton, assistant principal at Thoreau Park Elementary in Parma and principal of Hanna Elementary in Parma. A native of Hauppauge, New York, Dr. Jenkins received his bachelor’s degree from State University of New York at Buffalo, his masters degree at the University of Houston and his doctorate from Concordia University Chicago. He also holds an administrative license from Cleveland State.

Principal, Monticello at Heights Middle School

Dr. Jeff Johnston moves into a new role in CH-UH this year as the principal of Monticello at Heights Middle School. He was previously the Director of Student Services. In his 10th year in the District, Jeff also previously served as the Coordinator of Student Support Programs. Prior to joining CH-UH, he was an administrator for the Cleveland Metropolitan School District and the Arizona Department of Juvenile Corrections. He also served as a program specialist for the Arizona Department of Education and a teacher for special needs students. Dr. Johnston received his bachelor’s degree from Youngstown State University and his masters degree from Arizona State University.

Karen Liddell-Anderson

Director of Student Services

Karen Liddell-Anderson is the District’s new Director of Student Services. Most recently, Karen was the Director of Special Education at Akron Public Schools for nearly 10 years. During her 30-year career with the Akron Public Schools, she also served as aa special education coordinator, a middle school assistant principal, and an intervention specialist. Karen was also an adjunct professor at the University of Akron and the University of Dayton for eight years, teaching early childhood education and special education courses. A native of Jackson, Mississippi, she holds a master of education degree from North Carolina Central University and a bachelor’s degree from Jackson State University, along with several certifications.

Shelley Pulling

Principal, Roxboro Elementary School

Shelley Pulling is in her fifth year in the District and her first as the principal of Roxboro Elementary School. Shelley spent the previous four years as the principal of Boulevard Elementary. In her 25th year in education, she served as a principal in Perry Local Schools for 10 years and assistant principal in Perry for four years. A native of Westlake, Shelly received her bachelor’s degree and masters degree from Cleveland State. She began her masters work at the University of Houston. Shelley started her teaching career in Galveston, Texas, where she taught fourth grade. She then moved to Northeast Ohio and taught fourth and fifth grade in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District. Prior to teaching, she was a manager of a movie theater and enjoyed training new employees, to which she credits her switch to the teaching profession. Shelley has two children, a 15-year-old son and an 11-year old daughter.

Interim Principal, Heights High School

Dr. Brian Williams was announced as the Interim High School Principal on July 18. Dr. Williams is in his 20th year in the district, previously serving as the Coordinator of Alternative Programming at the Options Program.

Claude Holland
Interim Options Site Supervisor

Claude Holland a retired teacher and coach in the CH-UH District who will oversee the Options Program during Dr. Brian Williams’ tenure as Interim High School Principal.
