Career Tech Fair Promotes Programs
Two students
Nov. 20, 2017 -- The November 16 Career and Technical Education Fair at Heights High showcased the 20 programs available to students as part of the Heights Career Tech Consortium.

Juniors and seniors in the program hosted tables with information about each program.

Students in the Criminal Justice Program invited visitors to wear alcohol impairment goggles and then walk a straight line, simulating the procedure used by law enforcement officers if a driver is suspected of driving while impaired.

Sophomores from the five consortium school attended the fair and completed surveys about their interest in one of the programs. Counselors will follow up with students to help them decide on a program that fits their goals.

The CTE programs offers professional certifications, industry-recognized credentials, and college credits.

Sophomores apply for the two year programs at any of the five consortium schools: Bedford High School (BHS), Cleveland Heights High School (CHHS), Maple Heights High School (MHHS), Shaker Heights High School (SHHS) and Warrensville Heights High School (WHHS).

The CTE courses are a two year program and a double period each day, allowing time for important hands-on activities. Students can select a program at their home school or at another school in the consortium. Transportation is provided from student's home school to and from their host program school.

See the CTE webpage for complete details.
