Nov. 7, 2017 -- The latest edition of the Heights High school newspaper, the Black and Gold was recently published by students in the School Publications class. The first edition of the year includes article about homecoming activities and the new building.

Teacher Jessica Tayse is in her first year teaching the class but has been an English teacher for several years.

“I have always wanted to lead the school newspaper,” said Mrs. Tayse. “It has been really fun and we are working through the challenges.”

While the first edition was only digital, she expects the class to publish one or two hard copy versions this year.

Students are working on articles about Shrek, The Musical, the election and the recent Minority Student Achievement Network (MSAN) convention.

“We need advertisers to help us sustain the project,” continued Mrs. Tayse. Interested companies or organizations can contact her at [email protected].

Black and Gold staff members are: Matthew Cox, Kimberly Fisher, Kayla Harvey, Timea Hoston, Lyanette Jobson, Abra Lisowski and Dasia Love.
