Alum on Tour with Les Miz, Visits Students
Gabe talks to current Heights High vocal music students
Nov. 21, 2018 -- Heights High alum Gabriel Sidney Brown, ‘12 was in Cleveland performing in the final stop of the North American Tour of Les Miserables (Les Miz) in the role of Feuilly and as an understudy for the role of Marius, one of the lead actors.

On one of the final days of the tour, November 15, Mr. Brown visited the school and spoke to the Singers vocal music class.

He talked about his experience at Baldwin Wallace as a musical theater student and his move to New York City, finding an agent and performing in several roles before landing a role with Les Miz.

Students asked about his life at Heights High - he had the lead role in the school's production of Beauty and the Beast and played football and baseball. Students also asked how he prepares for auditions and performances and wanted to know more about attending a college to study musical theater.

Finally, the students performed Step in Time, a piece from the Mary Poppins show that the students recently performed on stage at Heights High.
“I was so impressed with the students’ questions,” said Mr. Brown. “And, I loved seeing them perform.”

He toured the building and learned about new programs, like the theater classes. “I am happy that the school has added theater classes,” he continued. “I know I would have enjoyed that class.”

He visited the auditorium and walked the backstage area. “The school is beautiful and the auditorium is top notch,” he said.  “And I have been in many auditoriums in the last 15 month!”

Mr. Brown has returned to New York where he will take time off to rest and is looking forward to several second auditions - callbacks.
