Roxboro 8th Grader Selected to Play for USA National Futsal Team

Aidan Wolf

July 14, 2016 – Roxboro 8th grader Aidan Wolf has been selected to play with the 02/03 USA National Futsal Team, as announced by the Cleveland Heights Athletic Department and varsity soccer coaches, Paul Eyre and Tshepo Motsamai.

Aidan was one of 10 field players selected to make the trip to Colombia, South America, this month to represent his country.

“Not many a day goes by when you won't find Aidan perfecting his craft in the old cage behind Rox Middle,” said Heights High varsity girls soccer coach Eyre, who coached Aidan with the local Eastside Kickers.

“Aidan is a good example of why our Heights soccer programs continue to excel and produce great college players and in Aidan's case a national team player,” added varsity boys soccer coach Motsamai.

Aidan wants to express his thanks to Coach Eyre and Coach Motsamai for all the help, his family and friends for their unwavering support particularly his 3-year-old sister who cheers his every move, and he has vowed to make Heights proud when he lines up for Team USA.

“I am positive that I will be nervous before the first whistle, but one thing will help me tremendously. I know that our Heights soccer family has my back,” said Aidan. “It will say ‘USA’ on my shirt, but I will have Heights in my heart. Go USA! Go Heights!”

“I am so proud of all the fine student-athletes who represent Heights so well,” said athletic director Dwight Hollins. “I am especially proud of Aidan Wolf. To be selected to represent your country as an 8th grader is a significant honor. We are also proud of Aidan's academic and social accomplishments, as he is in all of the Roxboro advanced classes and is a well-rounded individual.

“This selection demonstrates how hard Aidan works on the field and off. This selection also shows that our Heights soccer programs--youth, middle and high school--are in good stead. Well done Aidan and well done coaches."
