It’s a great day to be a Boulevard Tiger!!
Welcome to Boulevard Elementary School and to the 2013-2014 school year. This will be my first year as principal of Boulevard Elementary School and I am excited to get started. I have 20 years experience in education with 14 years as an administrator for the Perry Local Schools. I believe in creating an educational environment where all students are successful and have I have begun working with the staff to establish and refine expectations in order for this to occur. The Boulevard Elementary School staff is also committed to success for all students and has demonstrated this through their efforts at creating a common discipline plan, working together in teacher collaborative teams and reaching out to students in many different ways.
There is a positive energy around working together towards success and why I believe “it’s a great day to be a Boulevard Tiger.” Every teacher, staff member, student, parent or community member I have met has demonstrated pride in their school and expressed high expectations. I will work hard to promote a culture where teachers, staff, parents and students work together and everyone shares the same common goal of student success.
I welcome families to visit our school and see what Boulevard has to offer. We educate students in grades K-5 in an open classroom environment. Boulevard students are on the Discovery Pathway which is learning from the perspective of people interacting in the physical world. This pathway incorporates the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) program. All students participate in a Science class which focuses on the design process involved in STEM and where solving real life problems is a focus and a skill that will endure over time. Teachers will begin using the Math Expressions materials this year to teach the common core Math curriculum. The Language Arts classes will continue to group students and will also incorporate the common core curriculum. Teachers have worked hard this past school year and over the summer in order to integrate the new curriculum into their lesson planning and preparation.
All students will participate in Second Step lessons throughout the year. Second Step is a resource teachers will use to teach weekly lessons that focus on developmentally appropriate ways to deal with management of emotions, problem solving and fostering empathy for others. The goal of the program is to give our students the skills necessary to work with others in a preventative nature so that conflict is avoided.
As you can see, there is a lot going on at Boulevard Elementary School! If there is anything I can do to help please call the school (216) 371-7140 or email me email@example.com. I am proud to serve the students and families at Boulevard Elementary school and I want to do whatever it takes to help our students do their best. As we work through this school year, we will continue to help students believe and recite that “Every day I am safe, respectful, responsible and ready to learn!”
