Jump Rope for Heart

January 20, 2012
Cleveland Heights, OH

Dear Parents,

We are kicking off our fund raising campaign for the American Heart Association by participating in Jump Rope for Heart. Last year was our first year for this event and we were very successful raising over $1200.00! We hope to beat that goal this year. Our fund raiser will be completed the week of February 13th. During that week, all physical education classes will be celebrating heart health by completing fun and exciting challenges in the gym. On Thursday, February 16th from 7:00pm to 8:00pm we invite all parents to come and jump rope and hula hoop with their children.

A half sheet flyer was sent home last Friday explaining how easy it is to fund raise on line. The American Heart Association has several ways for children to create emails to send to friends and family members or design an e-card with your child as the super hero on the card. On line fundraising means the money goes directly to the American Heart Association and your child, along with Canterbury School, is credited with the donation. It is safe, secure, and easy. You can log on to www.heart.org/jump and click on Students Sign Up to get started.

Jump Rope for Heart is a community service learning program. It fits in with our physical education goals here at Canterbury.  It teaches students:

  • The importance of developing heart healthy habits;
  • That being physically active can be fun;
  • That by raising funds to support research and education they help save lives in their community and across the country

The collection envelopes and more information will be coming home soon. If you have any questions or concerns, please email me at j_lustic@chuh.org.

Thank you for your continued support of all that we do here at Canterbury!
