There's a BUZZ in the air!

Put it in your calendars! On Friday, March 16th Fairfax Elementary will host its First Annual Spelling Bee.
The Bee for the 30 finalists from grades 1 - 3 will be held at 9:30 a.m.
The Bee for the 24 finalists from grades 4 & 5 will be held at 10:30 a.m.
The finalists will be chosen from a Spelling Bee given in each classroom by March 2nd.
A letter about the Spelling Bee and study guide was sent home with your child in January. Please help your child prepare for this event by reviewing 5 - 10 words a night from the study guide. Do note that the lists overlap: for example, the last 50 words on the first grade list are the first 50 words on the second grade list. For the classroom round of the Bee, I recommend at least studying the lists up to and including the list for your child's current grade.
Creative ways to study could include pulling words out of a bag, if the child can spell the word correctly it can go into a special "I Can Spell" bag. You could select a "word of the day" or "words of the week" and post those words on your 'fridge. Send me any other interesting ideas you have on how to study for this.
