Principal’s Update - August 2008 Dear Parent/Guardian: The start of another school year is upon us! The month of August always brings a sense of excitement for me. I look forward to seeing all of our wonderful Noble families soon. I also want to welcome all of our new families this year. We are so excited to meet you and get to know you. Your child’s teacher looks forward to meeting your child on Tuesday, August 29th at 8:45 a.m. by the flagpole located on the Ardoon side of the building. Students will line up by their teacher who will be holding a sign with their name on it. We will have all support staff outside that morning to assist students and parents in finding their teacher’s area. After the flag raising ceremony, please join other parents and friends on the lawn for coffee and pastries. The students will go to their classrooms with their teacher. Please remember Tuesdays are early day and students are dismissed at 2:05. School hours are 8:45-3:05 daily, except Tuesday when students are dismissed at 2:05. I would like to be very certain that all parents/guardians understand the absolute necessity for all students to be at school on time each and everyday. Research shows that students who are late have an upset to their routine and learning patterns for an entire school day. Our Family Reunion will be held on Thursday, August 28th from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. This is a great opportunity for families meet new people and catch up with old friends. Please bring a picnic dinner to share with your family on the lawn. There will be a D.J. who will play songs for the whole family to enjoy! PTA will provide the ice cream for dessert. Please mark your calendars for the following activities scheduled during the first month of school: Thursday, August 28th: 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. “Family Reunion” Social Event Monday, September 1st: Labor Day- No school Wednesday, September 3rd: 8:15 a.m. Room Parent Tea Thursday, September 4th: 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Curriculum Night Thursday, September 18th: 6:30 p.m. PTA Meeting Tuesday, September 30th: No School /Rosh Hashanah Our theme continues to be “Connect 4 Noble” with the two goals; every child will read at or above grade level and our school will be bully-free. It is only when the parents, staff, community and students connect and work together that we will attain these goals. You will receive a letter about “Connect 4 Noble” the first week of school. I also strongly encourage you to attend Curriculum Night where I will share our current data and plans for the year. You will also have an opportunity to go to your child’s classroom and learn about the curriculum, routines, and procedures from your child’s teacher. I am looking forward to a very productive and exciting school year!
