Title I Schoolwide

September, 2018

In the Cleveland Heights-University Heights elementary schools, the English Language Arts curriculum continues to focus on ensuring that every child reads at or above grade level by the end of the 3rd grade. To achieve this goal, each child will learn skills and actions based on his or her unique strengths and weaknesses.

Instructional time for reading is a minimum of 70 minutes daily. This block of time includes literacy instruction in English Language Arts with a balance of reading, writing, listening and speaking as identified by Common Core State Standards. This change allows children to have more time to be taught and demonstrate their understanding of their learning.

We are looking forward to seeing more children succeed and reach the next level of achievement. We want each and every child to become a better reader and writer.

All of our elementary buildings are Title I School wide buildings. The purpose of a school wide model is to allow a school to undergo a comprehensive reform of the entire educational program in the school to assist all children, particularly the lowest achieving children, to meet high state and federal academic achievement standards.

Family involvement is critical to our program’s success and is invited throughout the year. We encourage your attendance during building events, workshops and conferences.
