Title I
The Cleveland Heights-University Heights school district (CH-UH) provides Title I services in all elementary and middle school buildings.
Title I–Improving the Academic Achievement of the Disadvantaged provides financial assistance to local educational agencies (LEAs) and schools with high numbers or high percentages of children from low-income families to help ensure that all children meet challenging state academic standards. The purpose of Title I is to ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging State academic achievement standards and state academic assessments.

Annual Meeting
Each building sponsors an Annual Meeting to gather feedback and ideas from parents and families regarding Title I services. Your building’s Annual Meeting may be paired with a Literacy Night or STEM Family event. Watch for this information from your principal and at your school site.

Non-Public Title I Services
CH-UH students who attend non-public schools receive services if they meet eligibility criteria. Non-public school Title I service is “targeted” meaning only those students who are eligible receive service rather than the entire school building. Services are provided to those students identified as failing or most at risk of failing. To determine eligibility, students are assessed using two or more academically-related criteria. Families of non-public school students eligible for services also receive Title I parent involvement support.
Schoolwide Programs
CH-UH schools operate “schoolwide” Title I programs, which focus on comprehensively improving the entire educational program in the school building. Schoolwide Title I programs include an emphasis on planning, use of evidence-based strategies, parent/family involvement, and professional development.
