"Heading to Heights" Freshman Orientation

To help ease the transition to Heights High for our rising 9th graders, we will hold the "Heading to Heights" Freshman Orientation July 29-31.

Families are invited on July 31 for a Parent Panel and Club & Extracurricular Fair, where you'll have the opportunity to meet school leaders, learn about available resources, ask questions, and explore the many clubs, athletics, and organizations that make Heights High such a special place.

Before & After Care

Registration is open for the “Right At School” before and after school care programs in all CH-UH elementary school buildings. Options for the 2026-2027 school year include Early Adventures before school care starting at 7:00 a.m. and The Right Club after school care until 6:00 p.m. Flexible scheduling and drop-in days are also available for each program. There are no wait lists to participate in the programs.

Chromebook Pickup For Freshmen

The CH-UH Information Technology Department is hosting several pickup days for 9th Grade students to exchange their old Chromebooks for new ones. The exchange is highly encouraged, to ensure that students have the most up-to-date devices for learning.

Families should bring their old Chromebook, charger, and zip case to receive their new device. If the student is missing any of those items, IT will apply the appropriate fines associated with the missing items to the student’s account. Dates and times are as follows:

School Meals

Food Services - Free Breakfast & Lunch for All Students

All students in the Cleveland Heights-University Heights City School District, from pre-K through 12, will receive free breakfast and lunch each day of the 2026-2027 school year.

Every student, regardless of family income level, in every district school building will receive a healthy breakfast and lunch at no charge each day. Students will continue to receive the same high-quality meals provided by AVI Fresh, the district’s food service partner. Families do not need to submit Free and Reduced Lunch applications.

A la carte items will be available for purchase at the high school and middle school. Students must pay for these items with cash, check or the pre-paid balance on their Infinite Campus account. Students will not be able to “charge” for a la carte items. Correct change must be provided for a la carte purchases; any cash change will instead be credited to the student’s Infinite Campus account for future purchases.

Heights High students will receive information about supply needs from each course teacher during the first week of school. Students should bring their Chromebook, a pen, pencil, notebook and a folder for handouts on the first day of school and a backpack, messenger bag or other satchel to carry their school supplies and personal belongings.

*Some elementary PTA groups post supply lists on Yubbler in order to fundraise. Yubbler may not carry some specific supplies and will add substitute products. Please make sure to follow the supply lists posted here regardless of where you purchase them.

Transportation

Students enrolled in the CH-UH City School District are eligible for bus transportation according to the following guidelines:
• Elementary School: Students must live one mile or more from their home school.
• Middle School: Students must live two miles or more from their home school.
• High School: Bus transportation is not provided for high school students. Many high school students take the public RTA bus to school. Students can purchase bus tickets ($1.75/ride) at Heights High, which is on the Cedar Road #32 (east/west) route and the Lee Road #40 (north/south) route. Visit RideRTA.com to plan a trip from any address to Heights High.

FAQ

How do I find out if my student is eligible for transportation?
Call the Transportation Department (216-371-7195) weekdays from 6:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

When will the bus begin picking up my child?
The bus will pick up your child on the first day of school if your child is:
• Returning from last year and eligible for transportation, or
• Enrolled at least one week before school starts.

If your child is newly enrolled in the District it usually takes 3-4 days before a bus stop can be established. Call the Transportation Department and they will give you this information:
• Date bus transportation will begin,
• Location of the bus stop and
• Time the bus will be there.
Until you receive this information from the Transportation Department, you are responsible for taking your child to and from school.

Will the bus take my child to a daycare facility?
Yes, but only if:
• Your child is in Kindergarten through fifth grade, AND
• Eligible for transportation to your home school, AND
• The facility is one mile or more from your home school.

My child attends a school through Intradistrict Enrollment. Is transportation provided?
Yes, but only if your child is eligible for transportation from both your home school and your school of attendance.

Kindergarten and Special Needs Drop Off
If your child is in Kindergarten or is a special needs student, the child’s parent/guardian is required to meet their child at the bus stop at the end of the school day. No Kindergarten or special needs child will be dropped off at the bus stop without a parent/guardian meeting the bus. If the child’s parent/guardian is not at the bus stop, the child will be transported back to his/her home school and the parent/guardian will be contacted for student pick up.
